The influence in a leader

Every song comes from another song, every leader succeeds another, every story end is the beginning of another, every person is from a successfully fertilised sperm and every story repeats and continues another. Likewise success breeds success and so shall the sperm of success when natured, monitored and groomed well it shall produce success.

The power of influence can only be useful when put into motion , the same applies with leaders who have influence but don’t direct it towards transforming societies. The power of influence however cannot function without the necessary environment.Influencial leaders are people who are able to create a conducive environment for them to exert that influence, they don’t force people to buy into their vision but their works act as a bait to lure followers. Influence is earned over time, remember that there is always competition for it .In the same fashion only a competitive sperm can result in fertilisation. “We are all cut out from the same fabric, it is the texture that feels different “.It is our sphere of influence that distinguishes one person from another, that is  eventhough human beings were created by the same creator their influence on each other is not the same. The reason why every new song sounds familiar is because of the fact that generations influence each other and so do leaders. The world has no choice but to create leaders from the existing ones. Positive influence builds a leader but negative influence is the cousin of dictatorship and marginalisation.

Money :Is it the greatest source of motivation?

Some call it cash money, imali, muler  ,some say its the love of it is the root of all evil whilst others say it makes the world go around. The most interesting thing about money is that some of us cannot leve without it and neither can they live with it for to them its a case of "more money more problems" .Over the years, scholars have argued that: "the greatest source of motivation is money.Well we all need money as a means of exchange and to facilitate trade transactions and a store of value .However ,to a greater extent money has failed to motivate many people for  the greatest motivator is a strong, clear and passionate vision. This surpasses the desire for money or any gain whatsoever!Money cannot buy you a vision but a clear vision can get you money.

Does the world still have visionary leaders?

Visionary leaders are people who do not just paint a picture, but those that paint it and explain it! The whole essence of visionary leadership is rooted in one`s ability to effectively share their vision to others in such that even in their absence what they sought to achieve is achieved by others. The good thing about vision sharing is that you do not need to be there for your vision to be achieved. Most importantly you have to tackle all limitations and turn your tragedies into triumphs. The world has its own standards of determining hero and heroine status but to me it is those leaders that have turned their tragedies into triumphs and dark nights into victory that I believe deserve the status. A blind man`s world is bounded by the limits of his touch; an ignorant man`s world by the limits of his knowledge; a great man`s world by the limits of his vision .Paul Harvey What is vision? Last Friday: Sketches from My Soul, BOOK LAUNCH

·     28 October, 2013 ·    Written by  Chris Nqoe Rain is considered a considered a good sign in African culture and tradition. In equal comparison, time is really not a concept that’s respected by people of African descent.  Now imagine our surprise this past Friday, when right on cue, 5PM to be precise, the heavens above Bulawayo opened up to bless our thirsty city with torrential rain.  The random event organiser would have been caught in a panic, praying to God to cease the floodgates of Heaven and ensure invited guests made it to the Sketches from My Soul book launch at the Bulawayo Theatre. Now picture what actually transpired at the venue of the launch, right under the pouring rain. Guests were instead seemingly oblivious to the rain, posing for close to three photographers on the red carpet, capturing moments that will become WhatsApp avatars and Facebook profile pictures. Book lovers, the literati, media,  poets and Bulaw...
